The Vintage Cameo Ring has such refined rich details, which makes it a little masterpiece. A cameo is a carved portrait or scene, mostly made in shell, lava, glass or stone.
The first cameos date back to 300 BC, and become popular again in the 19th century escepecially among aristocracy. Back then when there were no photocameras, people had their loved one engraved as a cameo and wore it in a ring or pendant. In the Victorian Era a man could have a bouquet of flowers carved with a hidden message and symbols and give it to his lover as a engagement or wedding gift. How romantic?!
This ring is made in Birmingham 1966, by the maker 'W&G'.
